Mosses & Lichens: a Winter Wonderland
Dive into the tiny world of mosses and lichens.
Winter is a perfect time to focus on the tiny greenish things in the world—mosses and their relatives, and lichens. These small organisms capture our attention and invite us to take a closer look. We will dive into how mosses, liverworts, and hornworts are put together. We'll learn how they reproduce. We'll understand how to identify a few of the most common species. We'll also examine lichens, and learn how they're made up of fungi and algae (and sometimes other things) growing together in a mutual relationship. We'll look into how lichens reproduce, what they tell us about their habitats, and we'll learn to recognize a few notable species.

This event is perfect for nature lovers who are curious about tiny green things, and who want to learn more about what they see in the winter woods.
