Jazz Concert w/ the Convergence Project + Potluck
On June 7th at 7 PM, Eugene Uman, pianist and Director at the Vermont Jazz Center, brings his ensemble to Chandler Music Hall to perform original jazz compositions, with an edge of rock and the inspiration of Colombian folkloric rhythms.
The concert will be preceded by a community potluck at 6 PM. Community members are welcome to attend the potluck with or without a concert ticket.
For each performance of the Convergence Project, Uman is joined by a varying cast of performers for a unique experience each show. For the Chandler performance, he will be joined by guest vocalist Wanda Houston, Michael Zsoldos on saxophone, David Picchi on bass guitar, and Jon Fisher on drums.
Vocalist Wanda Houston, known for her powerhouse performances in soul, gospel, and jazz, has had a distinguished stage career from Broadway to Europe, performing with legends like Patti LaBelle and Joe Cocker. Saxophonist and educator Michael Zsoldos, a Dartmouth lecturer and Eastman alum based in Woodstock, performs widely and composes for film and theater; he plays multiple woodwinds and is a vital contributor to jazz education in the region. Bassist David Picchi, active in the Pioneer Valley since 2001, is an accomplished performer and educator involved in numerous festivals and academic institutions, having worked with artists like Arturo O'Farrel and Charles Neville. Drummer Jon Fisher, a core member of the Green Street Trio, has performed with numerous jazz greats at prestigious venues and festivals.
