While many know Sardonis from his iconic sculptures Reverence and Whale Dance that have become part of Vermont's visual identity, this exhibit offers a rare glimpse into his sculptural development through maquettes, models, and explorations of his signature natural forms. Jim has a story and a connection to relate about each piece reflecting his empathetic listening and interacting with the world around him. He will share some of those stories as well as the creation of his whale tails sculptures that have become part of Randolph's visual identity in an artist's talk, which is free and open to the public at Chandler Gallery on Saturday, August 9th at 4:00 PM. Chandler Gallery is the fortunate recipient of a donation by the artist of one of his sculptures for a raffle to benefit renovations and improvements to their space. "Sounding" is a bronze sculpture on Verde Antique marble (from Rochester, VT) and tickets will be available at the gallery and online through December 21st.
